Yes, the goth look is back for another season according to ELLE, whilst VOGUE tells of fashion’s ongoing fascination with black leather, being used in ever-softer finishes for dresses and blouses, as well as for the more traditional blouson jackets, skirts and trousers. Luscious Leaves. One of VOGUE’s main trends for the coming season is ‘Countryside Alliance’, celebrating natural materials and forms. We would recommend one of our amazing ‘Symphony of Leaves’ necklaces for this trend, where each leaf (oak, maple, holly, cherry, rose, aspen…) is preserved in copper and then left for three days before being hand-finished in 24-carat gold. Necklace Sizing – How to choose the right necklace length? This is a question for both designers and consumers. As a designer, the length of a necklace determines where it will lie on the chest, hence effecting how we design a necklace and what kind of materials we use. As a consumer, necklace lengths impact our overall styles and can enhance our outfits. You can also use accessories to hide imperfections and accentuate the beautiful parts. So choose wisely! Accessories can make or break our outfits.
12 inches – Collar – This type of necklace lies very close to the middle of your neck, like Byzantium Phrenite Choker. For an elegant and classy look, wear it V-neck, boat neck or off the shoulder outfits. Occasionally you might be able to wear it with turtle necks too. One reminder, however, if you have a rounded face shape, or if your neck is short, don’t wear it or it makes your face rounder or your neck shorter. If you absolutely have to wear it, choose something thinner and color is not too bright. Don’t choose something that makes you look disproportionate. 16 inches – Choker – This is probably one of the most versatile and commonly worn lengths. It can go with any outfit from casual to fancy. An everyday style could be as simple as a Classique Silvertuft Necklace, or you can also wear something more fancy, like Del Lago Trio Necklace, that makes a statement wherever you go. Choker is my personal favorite because it really flatters my neck line. If you are thinking about buying someone a gift, or if you’re simply torn between different necklace lengths, 16″ is the way to go because you can never go wrong with it. 18 inches – Princess – This is another popular necklace length, great for crew, high and low plunging necklines, like Classique Sungold Necklace. This length is great for a pendant. Depending on what you wear, a 18″ Princess could be a good choice. If you think about seasonality, this will also be a good choice because you can wear them around a turtle neck in winter and it will add an elegant touch to your outfit.
20 / 24 inches – Matinee – Both 20″ and 24″ necklaces are called Matinee. These necklaces sit right above your chest and are elegant for casual and business dressing, like Classique Loop Necklace. Just be careful when you wear this type of necklace – make sure your outfit is not too overpowering. You want either your outfit or your necklace to pop, not both. 30 inches – Opera – This is the most flexible necklace length out of all lengths. You can wear it as a single strand, or you can double it up to create a layering effect, like Del Lago Citrine Necklace . A lot of office ladies like this necklace length because they can wear it differently during and after work. It’s almost one of my personal favs! 36 inches – Rope – The super long 36″ Rope also gives you the same flexibility as the 30″ Opera. You can wear it as a single layer, double or even triple, like Del Lago Silver Necklace! As great as it sounds, Rope is not for everyone. If you have a petite body frame, Rope might not be good for you because it may make your already petite body look even more petite. If you decide to layer it, it may make your upper body look too heavy and basically throw your body out of proportion. Slim a round face! Pick a slightly longer necklace that forms a V pointing toward your waist to elongate your face. Soften a square jaw! Offset an angular face with a shorter necklace with round beads that forms a semicircular that frames your face. Show off a petite frame! Make sure you pick out a necklace that isn’t too long. Your necklace should hit no longer than five inches above your waist.
