Maria’s work is mostly in gold (sometimes engraved with incredibly fine detail) and is a celebration of the power of the curve, with a wonderful range of rich-hued precious and semi-precious stones, including amethysts, peridots, citrines, topaz, iolite, rhodite and turquoise, nestling between the undulating and fantastical lines of the 14 carat gold settings. Many of her pieces also bear her signature motif, a small clasp in the shape of a butterfly.
The designs of Maria Loretta De Toni possess a distinctly enigmatic quality, partly based on her passionate believe in the cultural fusion of East and West. An idealist, Maria believes that the exchange of ideas in art, culture and fashion can positively influence communities throughout the world. Maria De Toni is based in Vicenza in Italy, where artists and craftsman have been creating unique pieces of jewellery for centuries. She is proud to be keeping these traditions very much alive.
